This year I was determined to get a great holiday family photo outfit for a fun Christmas card.
I really wanted to go with a holiday pajama theme.
I love red plaid during the holidays so I looked at quite a few options.
Look at what I found!
I found this plaid that came in regular pajamas (matching tops and bottoms) as well as jogger styles (for the big boys), and even a nightgown (my favorite style for cozy television watching). Some of the little guys prefer a tee shirt top, so for them, I found red henleys that look just like the ones for Grandpa and the three uncles. Score! Check these great looks out!
Great Holiday Family Photo Outfit

When I found this red plaid, I was so excited! I loved that it was so wintery. It could easily be paired with red, white, black, or even green as all those colors are present. I went with red because it seemed the most Christmasy.
We actually pulled off these photos on Black Friday because my youngest son was in town with his terrific fiancee as they were in town from New York for Thanksgiving. What a busy visit we had! We went dress shopping for my mother-of-the-groom dress as well as bridesmaid dress shopping. Such fun!
We went to the Chicago Botanic Garden Light Show on the day before Thanksgiving and that was breathtaking. Really worth the admission price.

Here’s my oldest son with his beautiful wife and two of our grandsons. The boys are wearing pajama sets, their mommy is wearing the top and bottom pajamas, and their daddy is wearing jogger bottoms with a red henley.

Here’s my lovely oldest daughter with her handsome hubby and their two boys. Just before this, these same little characters were eagerly jumping on Grandma and Grandpa’s big bed! Dad is wearing joggers with a henley. Mom is wearing the top and bottom pajamas. The boys are wearing pajama bottoms and this henley.

Above, Is Grandpa Jerry wearing his red henley and joggers, while his grandson is wearing pajama bottoms (from the set) with a red henley.

My youngest son is wearing the ribbed red henley (and joggers) and his beautiful fiancee is wearing the top and bottom plaid pajamas.

Superman is wearing a red henley and red plaid pajama bottoms as he flies around the house.

I love this photo of the grandbabies all on the loveseat with Grandma and Grandpa. (I am wearing the plaid nightgown as I like them the best when watching Hallmark Christmas movies!)

Here are two of my little cherub angels. Aren’t they so cute laying on Grandma and Granpa’s bed smiling at their wonderful photographer-uncle?
Conclusion to the Great Holiday Family Photo Outfit:
In selecting the outfits for a great holiday family photo, you’re supposed to pick out subtle patterns. This plaid isn’t subtle, but I toned it down somewhat by using the neutral tan loveseat in some of the shots as well as the minimally decorated (green with gold) Christmas tree.
Do your best to select items that are comfortable for everyone. The joggers were a hit with the guys and the boys seemed to be happy to don their cute pajamas. My nightgown was a big surprise. Most Christmas prints don’t come in a nightgown style.
ORDER NOW!!! Last year, we tried to pull this off but were unsuccessful. We couldn’t get all of the kid sizes. The adults were no problem, but the kid sizes run out early. Consider using LandsEnd. They were so helpful (and FAST) in sending (and resending new sizes once things were tried on). I have used LandsEnd for 33 years, especially in the winter and they NEVER let me down. Their customer service is really topnotch and their prices are terrific! I am not being reimbursed by LandsEnd for this post. I just am recommending them.
Have fun doing your holiday family photo shoot. I love the end result, and hopefully, so will your family!
