When I heard that Mr. G.Q. had a board meeting scheduled for Waco, Texas in December, I knew I had to tag along for a trip to Magnolia Farms. For those of you that somehow don’t know about this locale, let me clarify: Magnolia Farms is where the show Fixer Upper is filmed. It’s where Chip and Joanna Gaines live, work and create their magic! And I’m going there tomorrow! I’m soooooo excited!
The television show is filmed in Waco but to get there from Chicago, you need to fly into Dallas-Fort Worth. And then it’s about an hour and forty five minute drive from Dallas to Waco. My sweet hubby offered to fly us in a day before his meeting so he could show me some of the sites along the way.
We drove to Southlake which is a suburb of Dallas. We had lunch at a cute seafood 🦞 place called Rockfish which is in a beautiful work/live/shop/dine outdoor mall.

We had a delicious bowl of gumbo and because the weather was comfy, we actually dined al fresco.

Then across the street, I spotted some of my favorite shops so I talked Mr. G.Q. into a quick peek.
I wore a black herringbone vest (J Crew outlet) over a black and grey striped tunic and black AG velvet jeans. My crossbody purse is black pebble leather by Coach, my scarf is burgundy cashmere and because I just got off a plane my shoes are Brooks athletic shoes. I always wear comfy shoes when I fly because I never know how far I’ll need to walk through terminals, rental car spots, and the like.

Yep, you know that iconic red door. So Christmasy, and of course so “Talbot-y”. I popped in for a quick tour and saw a navy ultra suede pillow that would look great on my oldest daughter’s new sectional.

Next stop, was Pottery Barn. Wow did the store ever look terrific! I wanted to buy everything, but settled for a darling red tartan cotton runner that will be on a future December tablescape (stay tuned…)!

All I can say it’s a good thing I’m almost done Christmas 🎄 🎄🎄decorating back home, because boy was I ever inspired!!!! Aren’t these silk flowers gorgeous?!!!

And doesn’t this sofa grouping just make you want to pour yourself a cup of hot cocoa and watch a Hallmark movie?!!! (I may or may not have checked my hotel TV listings for the Hallmark station as my traveling partner has a board meeting dinner tomorrow night to which I’m not invited😉.)

Look at this cute sign we saw on the street. This is the Santa 🎅 schedule for Southlake! So fun!

Our last shop in Southlake was this darling spot aptly named Sugarboo & Co. It’s an eclectic shop filled with inspirational quotes, pillows, and all kinds of whimsical items.

Now if I could just figure out a way to get this in my carryon, I know a cute couple back home that would LOVE this guy 🐧!
Well it’s late and I need to get my beauty rest because tomorrow’s a BIG DAY. Until then, check back tomorrow!

OH MY GOSH! Next time, Becky and I are coming!!! SO FUN!
