Are you planning any summer travel this year?

Does the thought of organizing your travel makeup bag make you shudder?

Does it drive you nuts when you forget a particular toiletry that you really need?

Do you get frustrated when you realize you forgot the bandaids and your husband is asking you to get him one for the bleeding cut he just got unpacking his suitcase?

Honey, I’ve got you!

I am a closet Girl Scout.

I like to be ready for ANY emergency!

I like to have on hand whatever I need to be comfortable while on a trip.

Of course, Mr. G.Q. travels lightly.

He thinks I should “buy what I need” on the trip.

But…

he doesn’t know half of what I need!

Enter, the BEST travel makeup bag ever!

I have been on many pleasure and work trips in my 67 years. I have purchased many travel cosmetic cases.

But, this travel makeup bag is better! Let me show you why you should consider purchasing it.

In this post...

The BEST Travel Makeup Bag Ever

Here is a wonderful travel makeup bag that has multiple zippered sections with clear windows. It also has a terrific swivel hook.

Why is this travel makeup bag so great? What’s all the hype?

Let me start by telling those who may not know I am a retired cosmetic dermatologist. I love to and have tried many skin products over the years. I love the products that I use as I am a tough sell. I have extremely sensitive skin and I hate fragrances of any kind as most give me a migraine!

So when I like something, I really like it. Any old store brand won’t do. Thus, I need to bring small travel containers with me that have all my current favorite items.

I love this travel makeup bag because it comfortably holds all my cosmetic items and toiletries. It has multiple zippered compartments, each with clear windows. It has a stow-away 360-degree swivel non-slip metal hook for versatile hanging options. By having this sturdy swivel hook, I can hang it on any hotel bathroom door. Even the most luxurious hotels typically have insufficient vanity top space.

It has a two-way zipper closure for quick access. The carry handle doubles as its hanging strap. In addition, the inner main pockets have elastic straps that hold bottles upright. Each section has a double zipper compartment for easy access to the items so you don’t have to open the whole bag to access one section.

The travel makeup bag can be entirely zipped closed. Or it can be packed unfolded which is what I do as it’s thinner.

What Do I Pack in My Travel Makeup Bag and How Do I Pack It

Check out this video (below) of me packing my travel makeup bag for a trip this past winter.

I typically divide my products based on the different uses for the items. For instance, all the tooth care items are in one section, the makeup is in another, etc.

Now I will list the exact products I bring along with their links. Click on the highlighted words to see the actual item. Of course, you may not need everything I bring with me. Select the items that resonate with you, and disregard the rest. Remember, it takes A LOT to look this natural as I frequently remind Mr. G.Q.

I pack as many products as I can in travel containers. Here are a few of my favorites. And I use this label maker to label the items.

First Zippered Section of my Amazon Makeup Case:

In the first zippered section of my Amazon makeup case, I pack my favorite toothbrush (Sofresh) with a toothbrush cover. I like this toothbrush because it is soft with graduated bristles and it’s a flossing toothbrush! My dentist gave me my first one, and I think it cleans my teeth well especially below the gum line.

I also pack my wonderful favorite floss. It’s not waxed (as I am allergic to wax!) but it’s so easy to use that it never frays! A container lasts forever! I bring a small travel tube of Sensodyne toothpaste that my dental hygienist gives me.

Lastly, I pack a travel size of my hair spray and these individually wrapped self-tanner wipes. They are so easy to use. I use one each night for two or three nights before my trips to the sun and several times on my trips. They leave my skin with a light tan, without any annoying fragrance or streaking.

Second Zippered Section of My Makeup Case for Travel:

In this second section, I pack items I classify as makeup infrastructure. Included here are items that you typically use before your makeup,

First I use this roll-on antiperspirant. I use this eye cream. I use these eye makeup remover pads for my sensitive eyes. I bring these makeup remover Qtips to touch up any makeup smudges. These are brilliant; you crack the tip off the top of the stick and the makeup remover moves down onto the tip for your usage. I bring these oily makeup remover wipes (in a small ziploc) to remove my fabulous lipstick!

I bring these mini pads and this lotion for my dry skin. (Many of you can use the hotel products. I can’t because of my sensitivity to fragrances). I bring my favorite hair product in this travel spray container. I fill a travel container with my shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

I bring a small container of face cream, neck cream, and hair gel. These are my favorite sunscreen

Third Zippered Section of My Makeup Case for Travel:

This third section is where I put my actual makeup. My favorite foundation is Capture Totale by Dior. Under that I wear this sunscreen or this one if my rosacea is flaring. For my body, I wear this sunscreen. Lastly, I bring this powder sunscreen to reapply in the middle of the day.

I bring this eye shadow and eye primer to wear under the shadow. This is my undereye concealer. I love it because it has two shades so I can mix them as needed to cover any undereye circles or other imperfections.

I bring a small bottle of my contact lens solution. This is my favorite lipstick I wear shade 010 which is reliable raspberry. I wear this blush. I also bring this battery-operated tool for easily removing any peach fuzz. I love these preservative-free eye drops for my dry eyes. I learned about them from my ophthalmologist and they really work!

Makeup Brush Case

For my makeup brushes, I bring this terrific silicone makeup travel brush case. These are the brushes I use on trips: retractable blush brush, eyebrow brush, eyelash comb, eye primer, concealer brush, and this eyeshadow brush. My two favorite mascaras are this and this. Here’s my eyelash primer. I get this eyelash curler, these tweezers, and this pencil sharpener for my eye pencil. Once all these items are stowed inside this makeup brush case, I put the case into the travel makeup bag.

Fourth and Final Zippered Section of My Amazon Travel Makeup Bag:

Here is where I put tools that I might need on my trip. First is a small sewing kit in case a button gets loose. I bring this terrific foot file to smooth my feet, especially my heels. I love a seam ripper as it works to remove clothing tags that can irritate me. I bring cuticle scissors in case I get a hang nail. This is my hairbrush.

I love this awesome product that works fabulously if you get an ingrown toenail from running around in gym shoes when your feet swell a bit. Just a few drops dissolve the overgrown skin without making your toe more sore.

I bring Tide sticks and Downy wrinkle release spray to deal with spots and wrinkles while away.

If you ever get cracked fingers or cracked heels, you know how painful they are. Here is a recent blog on this. On trips, I bring this wonderful product. Just a drop on the crack and the pain is gone. This superglue is so much better than other superglues because it comes in a container that locks so tightly that it doesn’t dry out.

The last item I bring is bandaids so that I am ready for blisters and grandkid “owies”!

Have I Covered Everything for Your Travel Makeup Bag?

I know this is A LOT! Of course you don’t need everything in my travel bag. I mentioned that I like to be prepared! Just bring whatever resonates with you. And strongly consider this wonderful travel toiletries case. If you have leftover sections once you pack your items, you can use the empty section(s) for jewelry, cell phone rechargers, etc. The clear windows make everything easily accessible.

Let me know what YOU like to bring on your trips in your travel kit. I love a good suggestion!

Safe travels!

XO,

Dr. Julie
