I know I have said this many times but I love black and white! It is a combination that always seems to work. I always feel put together when I wear this characteristic mix. I think it looks crisp and clean. For this black and white gingham outfit, I paired a black top, with a black jean jacket, and black and creamy white gingham slacks.

With the black and white clothing, I added a black and white multi-stranded pearl necklace (old, Ann Taylor), and then even wore black and cream sandals! Is it too much? I thought it was a fun blend of textures.

Sadly, Covid has precluded a pedicure so you have to see my naked little toenails, but aren’t these sandals the bomb?! They’re old, from AGL and they’re so cute! The black is patent leather and the contrasting cream bows are plain calf skin. I love the simple, classy lines.

The V-neck cotton tunic is this year’s from JJill. I love the quality of JJill’s knit tops. They wash well and don’t typically shrink. The colors stay true and I usually get things at 40% off. Like many of my favorite retailers, they hold lots of sales. So peek online and see what’s on sale. Also, try the trick of putting a full-priced item in your “cart” for a few days and see if a “sale email” doesn’t pop up in your inbox! This really works!!!

My pants are from last season (J.Jill). They’re the Essential Cotton Stretch Pant. They have side invisible zippered pockets which lay flat. There is a small v-shaped vent on the outside of the hem which looks especially nice when wearing a higher heel. The jacket is an old Mark Shale jean jacket that I love because it has shiny silver buttons. This jacket, due to the buttons and the color, is very versatile. It can be worn year-round and looks especially nice with a ribbed turtleneck under it in the cooler seasons.

Lastly, I just noticed that I’m standing in front of some cool artwork that Mr. G.Q. and I purchased several years ago in Paris. It was a Sunday afternoon and quite a few shops were closed for the day. This talented artist had several street scenes available (and displayed on the security grates in front of the store windows) so we snatched them all up! We rolled up the canvases, took them on the plane in our carry-on, and framed them when we returned home to Chicago. Happy memory!

Happy Mid-July Friday! I hope you enjoyed my black and white gingham outfit post. Check out this post on wearing cardigans in different ways next!
