Are your Thanksgiving holidays casual, dressy, or a mixture of both?
I recently went on a fall road trip with Mr. G.Q. and had a wonderful time putting together and wearing many fall outfits that would be perfect for casual Thanksgiving outfits.
I thought it might be helpful to show you what I wore, as you probably have some similar pieces in your closet that you can use to create identical, fun looks.
Let’s get to the looks:
In this post...
Outfit #1 (of the Casual Thanksgiving Outfits)
/ Vest / Gloves / Turtleneck / Watch / Bangle / Hat / Belt / Jeans / Cross-body Bag / Jeans / Lepard Flats
I paired this slightly oversized striped turtleneck with wide-leg jeans and a black puffer vest in this first outfit. The vest is a perfect capsule wardrobe piece because it is reversible. The inside is a leopard print, and the other side is black. Both are very versatile, and when wearing the black side, a bit of leopard piping shows on the edge, which is a classic accent.
By adding a black hat, the whole look is elevated. I love how sharp a hat looks in the fall and winter. I also love the leopard flats, which tie together the outfit by coordinating with the leopard belt. Lastly, the brown cross-body bag and leather gloves complete the ensemble.
Outfit #2 (of the Casual Thanksgiving Outfits)
/ Coatigan / Gloves / Leopard Top / Necklace / Watch / Bangle / Bag / Belt / Jeans / Pumps /
In this second casual Thanksgiving outfit, I wore the same wide-leg jeans as in the first look, but I swapped in a leopard top for the striped turtleneck. Then, I added the sharpest black knit coatigan from @Amazonfashion. It’s almost identical to the one from J Crew but has no wool, so it isn’t itchy for my very sensitive skin.
I repeated the brown gloves, the cross-body bag, and the leopard belt of outfit number one, but to dress things up a bit, I added a very classy gold link necklace with a central pearl. I also added a gold watch, bangle, and the sharpest leopard D’orsay pumps. I will probably wear this to dinner with my friends over the holiday weekend. I love the dressy vibe of the top and heels, as well as the cozy vibe of the coatigan.
Outfit #3 (of the Casual Thanksgiving Outfits)
/ Coatigan / Gloves / Funnel Neck Top / Necklace / Watch / Bangle / Bag / Belt / Jeans / Pumps /
I again wore wide-leg denim jeans and leopard pumps in this look above. I added a very on-trend burgundy funnel-neck top. This top is so sharp! Burgundy is a prominent color this fall and winter; I am here for it! I love it with black and leopard. It also pairs well with camel.
I think gold accents look especially lovely with burgundy, and I chose to wear the gold bangle and watch,
Outfit #4 (of the Casual Thanksgiving Outfits)
/ Jean Jacket / Turtleneck / Bangle / Watch / Cross-body / Joggers / Sneakers /
I paired the great oversized turtleneck with a jean jacket, olive joggers, and the most fun grey @Taos sneakers in outfit number four. When I go on a trip, I love to bring cute sneakers like these, as they have excellent arch support and zip on and off, which makes them easy to go through TSA.
Again, how versatile are the gold watch, bangle, and brown crossbody bag? All work together seamlessly!
Outfit #5 (of the Casual Thanksgiving Outfits)
Please Follow Me Here!
/ Blazer / Belt / Jeans / Gloves / Shirt / Bandana / Bag / Leopard Flats / Bangle / Watch /
This outfit is a classic fall blazer look. It’s a perfect travel outfit because if I get cold, I reach into my Tumi backpack (see post here) and pop my black cashmere hoodie under the blazer! Otherwise, I love the denim-on-denim look of this outfit. The jeans are kick-out cropped (terrific buy!) in a medium wash.
Again, I reused the leopard flats, belt, watch, bangle, bag, and gloves. That’s how you KNOW you’ve packed well! I added the blue scarf to add interest to the neck. It elevates the outfit.
Outfit #6 (of the Casual Thanksgiving Outfits)
/ Blazer / Belt / Jeans / Gloves / Cashmere Sweater / Scarf / Bag / Leopard Flats / Bangle / Watch /
I wore the same blazer as Outfit number five in this last of the six casual Thanksgiving outfits. The jeans, shoes, bag, belt, and gloves are identical. I swapped out the denim shirt with a gorgeous ivory Quince cashmere sweater. (I recently posted about the Quince sweater here.)
I also changed the scarf to one by J Jill. Their scarves are exciting and frequently have tassels, as this one does. The scarf can be worn under the jacket, tied around the neck of the sweater, or draped around the blazer’s lapels.
Have I Shown You Enough Casual Thanksgiving Outfits?
Are you motivated to visit your closet to see what you can create from your clothes? That’s always the best place to start. After that, see if you could add a piece or two from my ideas to have fun looks for the rest of the fall, Thanksgiving, and winter.
Below, I’ve included photos of all the items in the post. Just click on them to be taken to that item’s website.
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
XO,
Dr. Julie
I like your jean jacket look probably because that is most likely what I’d where. Agree with you that hats elevate a look. I’ve just never gotten comfortable wearing one. Have a fabulous holiday with friends and family!
You too Joanie!
Great looks Julie!!! I tried to buy the striped turtleneck and the leopard vest from Talbots but both are sold out in my size, but love them!
