Do you wonder what would be cute fall family photo outfits?

I thought it might be fun and helpful to put together three picture outfits for the whole family.

I’ll show you some fall family photoshoot ideas that I will model and include three boards of family photo color schemes.

Fall Family Photo Outfits #1

For your fall family photo outfits, here’s a pretty paisley midi dress (sold out), and a similar paisley dress in great colors for family photos. As you can see in the close-up below, the dress (sold out), similar dress has shades of black, brown, burgundy, khaki, and cream. So this dress (sold out), a similar dress could be the focal point with which the other family members’ outfits could be coordinated.

I paired the dress (sold out), and similar dress with these scrunched suede boots, as well as my diamond stud earrings, belt (similar, here) and my pave heart necklace.

I love this first fall family photo outfit! I paired a pretty floral dress (sold out), a similar leopard dress, for the little girl with boots and tights. Then for the big brother, I paired a Fair Isle sweater with a dark plaid shirt and jeans with brown suede boots.

Dad gets to wear a solid sweater over a plaid shirt with jeans and topsiders.

For those of you who follow my blog, you KNOW how much I love black and white! I loved this family photo outfit for fall THE MOST! In fact, for my family, this is what we’re going with this year. The four grandsons will wear skeleton sweatshirts (new link, here) and the rest will wear black and white! I can’t wait! (Watch my Instagram @drjuliemarshall next weekend!).

As you can see from the above and below photos, I had a ball putting this outfit together. I paired a black and white shirt (sold out) similar, here, with a little orange bandana, a black puffer vest (similar, here), and dark-wash skinny jeans, similar, here. My suede booties (similar, here) are black as is my suede belt (similar, here). I even wore black leather gloves (similar, here) to keep my hands from cracking!

For this black and white family photo outfit for fall, I paired the black and white checked dress (new one, here) with leggings and booties (new link, here) for the little girl. For the mom, I paired an oversized black and white checked shirt with my favorite black Lysse leggings.

Dad wore the same jeans, shirt (sold out) similar shirt, here, and shoes as in the first photo board. The big brother wore black high tops, jeans, a checked shirt, and a skeleton sweatshirt.

For this family photo shoot outfit idea, I went with my new favorite Vince Glen plaid jacket (similar, here). I have done a whole blog post on this great plaid jacket, (similar, here). I paired the plaid blazer (similar, here) with a burgundy sweater that I tucked in. (The sweater is quite thin and tuckable.) I added a leopard belt (similar, here), leopard shoes, and an amber necklace

My tortoise shell earrings are from the J Crew factory last year (similar, here). Pro-tip: I love the mix of leopard, amber, and tortoise shell in the fall as I think it looks so elegant.

Isn’t this third family photo color scheme idea so fun? I love the jean jackets for the girls (similar, here), boys, (similar, here) and the jeans for everyone! It looks so Americana in the fall! The two color options of the girls’ dresses (similar, here) blend well with the plaid of the mom blazer (similar, here) and with the check shirts for the boys.

Coming up with photo shoot clothing ideas was enjoyable for me. I started by shopping in my closet and seeing what pieces seemed “fall-like” to me. Then I knew the boys would all have jeans and brown shoes or boots, so adding the fall-hued floral little girl dresses (similar, here) was an easy blend.

For the mom, I love my plaid blazer (similar, here) and it pairs so readily with a burgundy sweater or henley. The skinny jeans (similar, here) and pointy leopard flats complete the third photo shoot outfit ideas.

Here are a Few More Tips for Your Fall Family Photo Outfits and Photo Shoot:

As a grandma to four little grandsons, I think it’s helpful to schedule the shoot right after naptime, to minimize melt-downs.

Also, figure out if you want a formal photo or a more casual one. This will determine the look of the outfits. If you’re worried about the little ones getting dirty before the photos are completed, consider jeans or dark prints.

Try to have as much fun as possible. The kids will probably cry. It will make a great future story!
