It’s just before the Fourth of July so when I invited a friend for lunch I set the table with a nautical theme. I used Crate and Barrel navy and white striped placemats, red cotton napkins (Amazon) and red tumblers from Homegoods. The red, white and blue flowers were from my garden and were arranged in a little glass vase from a garage sale.
For lunch we had a fun vegetable salad from the Pioneer Woman. It involved zoodles which are “noodles” made from spiralizing zucchini, sliced yellow peppers, grated carrots and red cabbage, julienned basil leaves, sliced Persian cucumbers and skillet-warmed cashews. The dressing was divine. It had olive oil, lime juice, salt, pepper, minced ginger, and sesame oil. All this was served with toasted sprouted multigrain bread from Trader Joe’s.
For the lunch I wore more Fourth inspired clothing. I sported a navy and red polka dotted cotton button down shirt (Talbot’s) with white girlfriend stretch cropped jeans from Chico’s. These jeans are sooo cute! The tassels are playful and the denim is comfy. I wore tan Stuart Weitzman flat sandals, silver beaded bracelets from Evereve, pearl earrings (a gift), and a delicate silver necklace from my daughter that she purchased from Amazon.
The lunch was delicious and extremely colorful, much like my flower boxes. Haven’t they grown a lot since I first showed them to you? (See the post, First Garden Trip of the Season.)
PS Here’s a post on red, white and blue home decorations.
