Last night we invited over my oldest brother and his wife for a healthy(ish) summer Sunday supper. It was filled with produce or “superfoods” as they’re called in the food world.

The menu was:

-Lacy cheese appetizer

-Steak on the grill (I know this is not a superfood but it does start with an “s”…)

-Sliced Farmers Market tomatoes, with sliced red onion, basil, and Italian vinaigrette and blue cheese crumbles

-Corn on the cob

-Roasted onions

-Mixed Berry Crumble

This recipe is delicious and so easy. Just one ingredient and it’s from the book Pam Anderson’s Recioes for having people over. It was terrific with the La Crema Pinot Noir my brother brought (and which was also on my “Summer Wines” blog last week!).

The roasted onions were from the Barefoot Contessa cookbook Barefoot Contessa at Home. I assembled this dish early in the day and cooked it right before dinner.

This mixed berry crumble is unbelievable! I used strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Delicious!

The table was inspired by summer! Several years ago my hubby and I went to Provence and purchased several tablecloths. This is my favorite in that it’s classic Provençal colors of red, blue and yellow (here’s a similar one https://amzn.to/2QqDG6n). All I added were small mason jars (https://amzn.to/2Qaw6wr) of geraniums, red cotton gingham napkins (Pier One), William Sonoma cream plates, sunflower salad plates (mine are old, here are similar ones https://amzn.to/32HBx7g), and red tumblers (Homegoods) (here are even cuter oneshttps://amzn.to/2LxC6eg). The oval rattan placemats are from Amazon https://amzn.to/2LQ4XcB. They’re worth the money because they’ll last forever, are easy to wipe and look great in many different types of table settings. Wasn’t it a happy tablescape?
