Today I could stand it no longer. I’ve been down with a virus for the past eight days and I just had to do one fun fall thing. Before my second nap of the day😷! So I headed to a garden store back in my old neighborhood. I went to Pasquesi’s Garden Center (975 W. North Shore Drive, Lake Forest). It’s a lovely place and my favorite spot to buy purple pansies.

This is where I head for pansies because they have a nice selection of multiple colors of my favorite fall flower. I always buy purple because they look good against the green foliage of the mums, even before the mums open. I also purchase bright yellow pansies because the contrast of the two is dramatic!

For this foray I wore a JCrew paisley cotton button down shirt. It’s in their Liberty print series and this one is several seasons old. The reason I so love it is it’s incredibly soft and comfortable to wear. Also the bright purple, yellow and orange paisley print is so fall-like. It pairs well with denim, khaki, navy, you name it. With this fun shirt I wore cute boyfriend jeans, a delicate tortoise shell choker (a gift), and a leopard calf skin belt.

I planted the pansies in my flower boxes. You’ve seen them in earlier posts but that was when they were sporting their summer stuff. Now we’re transitioning the house to fall so the flower boxes need in on the action.

So here you can see some pansies, ivy trailing over the edge of the box, some not yet blooming mums and a few holdout herbs and blue summer annuals.

Here’s another (of my three boxes) and I’ll try and remember to show photos in a few weeks when the mums start their show. But for now I like the purple tones (along with my paisley) being the early harbingers of Fall. Happy Labor Day weekend to all my lovely readers!
