Hello lovely subscribers. Have you missed me as much as I have missed you? As I mentioned on a previous post, I have been really busy learning how to do Instagram in more depth. But in so doing I have been too involved there to put together bigger blog posts. But today I am feeling the love! I thought it would be helpful to come up with a list of items that can be worn together but that also can be part of many looks.
Four of the items could be classified as basics which kind of sounds boring. But, having great basics (like solid pants, dark wash jeans, black or navy blazers, white shirts, etc.) is actually beneficial in the long run because you can always count on them to be the backbone of a look. So read on and see if you think these items would be helpful to add to your wardrobe. Also take a peek in your closet to see if you have something similar… I bet you might. Let’s go!
Five Fabulous Fall Fashion Finds for You!
As you can see in the first photo, I have a burgundy cotton blend sweater that I recently purchased for $21.00! I love the rich maroon color and I find this hue to be universally flattering. It reminds me of fall and the light weight adds to its appeal. I’ll show you several ways to wear it below.
The second item in the fabulous fall fashion finds is the cutest bag. This Nordstrom tote is reversible (black to brown, vegan leather and is currently $49). But I have seen it as low as $29 so check back at Nordstroms if it’s not on sale yet. I like this bag because the colors are rich and it’s reversible. There’s a magnetic closure and an inside pocket as well as a wristlet (where I put my phone). It’s a nice tote to use as your carry-on when traveling.
The third item is a pair of honey colored boots by Blondo. The heel is comfy, the suede is soft and the color will go with denim, khaki, olive, and black with ease. I love these boots! And they’re waterproof, which is a great feature.
The fourth item is a pair of pants that I wear a lot on the blog and on Instagram (please follow me there @drjuliemarshall). These oatmeal colored J Jill refined woven trousers are terrific. They wash well and always look like a sharp pair of creased slacks. And they are on sale right now for $35! Great price and great quality!
The fifth and final fall fashion find for you is a neat statement necklace and earrings that I think is a terrific deal. They are only $12.99 and look terrific as an accent as you’ll see below. So let’s see some outfits.
For my first look I am wearing the burgundy sweater with the oatmeal pants, the suede boots and the great reversible tote all described above. As a third piece I added an olive cotton canvas jacket. Mine is from Talbots and for some reason I couldn’t find the link today. Here’s another darling one at a better price.
I love how the statement necklace pulls all the (potentially boring) pieces together into a great outfit. This smart casual vibe is my go to look and it takes me to any doctor appointments, fun lunches and errand doing.
This second outfit is really fun. I’m wearing the necklace, the oatmeal pants, and the boots. But to change the look I added a jean jacket from AG jeans and a leopard shirt from Talbots. I love this combination because this animal print is so sharp in the fall. I even added a JCrew leopard belt over the shirt which at first I thought would be too much.
But I ended up liking it all together. So this outfit shows how all these basics can be punched up with the jewelry, belt and leopard shirt. Also I switched the bag to the black side because I think black looks so classy with leopard.
Here in this third look I added an old J Crew liberty print paisley shirt with the same J Crew leopard belt and an old jewel-toned J Crew cashmere cardigan. Doesn’t the combination look so fall-like and rich in color? I think so. By the way, I love how soft this year’s J Crew cashmere sweaters are in case you’re in need of a neat sweater.
In this fourth look I switched in a navy striped boat-neck tee from Banana (old). Here is a similar one. I kept the jacket described above (similar, here ). I added a silk scarf from Brooks Brothers (old). I liked the purse on the brown side with the boots and the navy tee.
In my fifth and final outfit from these five fashion finds I wore the AG jean jacket over the burgundy sweater, with the same boots, pants and bag. For accessories I added the necklace described above as well as the Brook Brothers scarf tied on my bag strap. I think it’s really attractive to tie scarves on your purse especially if you think it might be too warm to wear it around your neck, but you still want the accent to your look.
There you go. Did I deliver on my blog title? Do any of the outfits appeal to you? Which one(s)? Let me know in the comments below.
Thanks!
Happy Thursday!
XO
