The other night Mr. GQ and I went to a fun birthday party. His brother and wife were both born in December of 1969. And since they both realized how busy December is, they decided to have a 49 3/4 party! Clever idea.

I wanted to wear an outfit for Fall but I also didn’t want to be too hot (or too cold). Are you thinking Goldilocks? Well I always think that when the seasons change it can be a bit challenging finding a look that works. So I wore an Alison Joy black floral camisole top with a black stretch terry cloth blazer (also by Alison Joy). For the pants I wore JJill black cotton ankle pants. Wearing dark colors but in lighter weight fabrics such as cotton, chinos, terry cloth, etc. is an easy way to transition into Fall.

For shoes I wore nude Stuart Weitzman sandals with a kitten heel and a slight platform sole.

My purse was a black leather clutch with a tortoise shell handle (from J.McLaughlin), that I love. I wore simple gold hoop earrings, a gold Murano glass link bracelet, a gold watch and a delicate brown beaded choker. I love combining brown with black especially in the Fall. It looks softer than all black accessories. Don’t you agree? Happy early Fall! I’m getting ready to start decorating for that this week! How about you?
