The other day I met my good friend Daria for lunch in Lake Forest. The restaurant we chose (Market House) happens to be right across the street from the Talbots store, so after lunch Daria snapped a few pics and I dropped in for a quick run through the store. This outfit is an old chambray shirt tucked into an even older Ann Taylor floral pencil skirt. My shoes are nude Stuart Weitzman sandals with a little martini heel. (I love a good nude sandal for elongating the leg!). My purse is from this season and is a terrific wicker bucket bag from J McLaughlin. The rattan handles are so “Palm Beach”.

Before I go any further I want to point out something that a number of my readers have asked about. In my posts I have some things typed it pink letters. These are magical links because when you click on them, you will be brought right to the site that you can purchase the item. They are officially called “affiliate links” which means when you shop through them, it helps support my business (all at absolutely no additional cost to you) so thank you for using them!

And because my outfit in the above photos is from items that were just in my closet, I thought it might be helpful to my lovely readers, for me to post a very similar look that is currently ON SALE at Talbots. Check out the darling hibiscus skirt and denim shirt both currently on sale.

I love this hibiscus skirt! I think it would be fun now and also in the future (fingers crossed) on a warm weather vacation. It would look nice with a tee in any of the skirt’s colors or with any shade of denim or chambray shirt. In the next photo, you can see a slightly darker shirt than my original outfit, but it totally works. Also because long-sleeved shirts can be hot this time of year, I rolled up the sleeves. This shows off any fun jewelry. By the way, as of today, the hibiscus skirt is only $24.99 and the denim shirt is only $29.99!

Lake Forest has a beautiful outdoor square that is always filled with loads of interesting flower containers and boxes. If you aren’t from this area, it’s about one hour north of downtown Chicago, along the lake and has a lovely collection of shops and restaurants. I’ll do a future blog on my favorites in the next few weeks.

I neglected to mention that I’m wearing a multi-stranded necklace of pearls from J Crew Factory outlet. I think the juxtaposition of pearls with denim or chambray is always so delightfully unexpected. These pearls are such a great value. They’re currently $31.50 and if you give them your email address, you’ll receive another 15% off! I love these pearls tucked in a neckline or alone on a simple black dress. They’re also a terrific gift.

Happy Weekend!

XO

Dr. Julie
