Get into my newly decorate red kitchen decor with a roostery accent! Here’s my white washed wood kitchen table and ladder-backed chairs. They’re by Paula Deen and I love them. The table is round and has a leaf that changes it to oval. The windows have the same yellow and red-orange Provencal patterned fabric that I had on my couch in the adjacent great room.

The placemats are a sister fabric and all the fabrics came from French Connection Fabrics in Pittsboro, N.C. Their website is www.french-nc.com. I actually found the placemats in a French shop in Carmel, California last spring. The fabric has been treated so that it has become “oilcloth” which is somewhat water-resistant and easy to just wipe off after meals. The drum fixture over the table came with the house and I think it works well. The yellow silk forsythia blossoms are from Michael’s and I love how happy they make the room look.

This is a large rounded (on one side) island that is very dramatic. It’s useful for entertaining and for meal preparation and baking. When we were looking to buy this house, I was already thinking of purchasing this huge and colorful rooster from Sur La Table. I’ve had my eye on him for several years but never had a deep enough shelf spot available.

Red Kitchen Decor

Here you can see the stove area and some of the counters. The rug is a smaller version of the one in the great room but it looks a bit different because the lighting is more subdued here. The rug is a great deal and came from ERugs.com. Be sure to buy the thickest pad especially for this work area of the kitchen, I love red accents, so I went crazy on Amazon purchasing multiple red items. The red “rooster” and “utensil” canisters are from Amazon as is the red sodastream drink maker. The red teapot is from Homegoods. The red cast iron Dutch oven pot is from Le Creuset. The red, orange and yellow tulips are silk and from Michael’s.

The island easily accommodates four dark wood saddle bar stools. I like this style stool because it’s comfortable and they slide out of the way when not in use.

This lovely rooster painting was done by my good friend, Colleen Parker who is an artist in Kiawah, South Carolina. She knows how much I love roosters and she also painted a smaller one for my home in Chicago.

Here is a close-up. Coleen worked with a piece of my window treatment fabric to pull out the deep citron orange, yellow and red colors that I wanted to emphasize. Isn’t he handsome?!!

Here are two more containers both from Homegoods. I love using ivy in the corners to soften the look.

This is a darling ceramic pig (Homegoods) that sits on Mr. G.Q.’s desk in the corner of the kitchen. More ivy and some family photos…

Don’t you hate it when you can’t find a kitchen gadget or tool? It drives me crazy. So I bought these expandable drawer dividers that snap in without any tools and work like a dream!

This is the last image, I swear! This is the great big wall clock that’s been featured in lots of blog posts. I found it in a local consignment store and I think it’s so neat because of the aged finish, the cool numbers, and the French wording. I had to have it! That’s it!
