What to Wear on Beach Vacations

Mr. G.Q. LOVES the weather in Chicago during the summer. I do too as it’s been a great season for his golf and my gardening.

But, we love going to Hawaii, and this September we’re heading to the Big Island for a ten-day trip! I will definitely do a post closer to the dates but since lots of stores are doing their End of Summer Sales, I thought you might like to snag some deals! Read all the way to the end as I will show you some things I just ordered!

Cute Beach Outfits:

Are you like me in that on beach trips, I spend most days wearing a bathing suit with a cute cover-up especially when heading out to breakfast at the hotel?

Do you LOVE reading and napping by the pool? I just read the cutest beach read Musical Chairs by Amy Poeppel. Check it out! Loved it.

So, since I am such a reader and lounger, I like comfy, but attractive suits and coverups. Here are a few for you to check out:

Sheer Pink Pareo and Print Bathing Suit:

Isn’t this a darling pareo? It’s hot pink, so I had to have it! And for those of you who follow me, I almost always buy a solid bathing suit. But I thought this sarong would look SO CUTE with a print suit underneath, so I went for this one (very similar print, here).

J Crew Beach Shirt and Cute Pink One Piece (Another CUTE Beach Look):

Here is an adorable hot pink retro-inspired bathing suit with a sweetheart neckline worn with a pink linen and cotton beach shirt from J.Crew.

As I mentioned above, pink is my FAVORITE color! It always makes me feel happy and it’s so feminine!!!

This J. Crew beach shirt has sold out several times, but since it’s back in stock now and ON SALE, I think you should snatch it right up so we can be twins!!! I love it and in the next few photos, I will show you that it looks GREAT as a cover-up for any suit, but also looks cute in several adorable summer outfits!

Here is a front view of the hot pink one-piece bathing suit worn with silver hoop earrings and nude sandals.

This hot pink one-piece is a bit retro with the sweetheart neckline and ruched body. I usually wear a size 8 in a suit, but this size 6 fits great.

J.Shirt as a Shirt Dress:

Isn’t this a cute way to wear this beach shirt? I love it! I added a mustard-colored leather belt, silver hoops, nude flat sandals, and white cat eyeglasses, just for fun! I also added a lightweight, inexpensive mini-slip as the dress alone is a bit sheer.

Here I am wearing the J.Crew beach shirt as a shirt dress with a mustard-colored belt, white cat eye sunglasses, and silver pave hoop earrings. My sandals are flat and nude in color.

J. Crew Beach Shirt as a Duster with White Jeans and a Tank:

So this could easily be a date night look. Wear the shirt, open as a duster over the white Maya cotton tank and white cropped jeans. Add silver pave hoop earrings, and heeled nude sandals to complete the outfit.

Black Pompom Sarong Over a Black Suit:

I saw this black sarong with multi-colored pompoms and knew I had to get it! It goes with all my solid-colored bathing suits and it’s such a great buy!!! Of course, I love this tummy-controlling Miraclesuit style as it’s so flattering.

Here I am wearing a black one-piece tummy-controlling bathing suit by Miraclesuit. It is very comfortable and I have covered it with a darling black sarang that is edged with multi-colored pompoms.

Black and White Sarong Over the Black Suit:

This is one of my go-to beach vacation looks as it pairs a solid black bathing suit with a black and white sarong (similar, here), silver beaded bangles, my stainless steel Ebel watch, and my favorite SPF 50 broad-brimmed hat!

Here I am wearing the same black bathing suit, but now I have added a black and white satong as well as silver beaded bangles, a watch and a broad-brimmed hat.

Here is a close-up of the hat, my diamond stud earrings and silver beaded bangles.

My sunglasses are classic Oakleys, and my white cotton shirt is oversized and can be worn with every suit.

Here I have added a big oversized white cotton shirt as another cover-up option.
