First Fall Look: Blazer, Sleeveless Top, and Olive Pants

It’s early fall and this first fall look is a striped blazer over a sleeveless top and olive pants. I know this can be a challenging time of year to dress comfortably while still being on trend. The stores are showing sweaters, jeans and booties, but the thermometer is reading “hot”.

So what’s a fashionista to do? Enter olive linen pants matched with a sleeveless tie-neck blouse and a striped blazer. In this cool look, I paired a yellow silky sleeveless blouse (in case it’s really warm where you live), with a pair of olive joggers. Style tip: I love the look of joggers with a brown block heeled sandal as it reads fall but isn’t as hot as a bootie.

Sleeveless yellow print tie-neck blouse with a striped blazer over my shoulder. Pearl earrings, a gold watch and bangle, and olive jogger pants. I'm standing in my late summer garden.

For jewelry, I wore pearl stud earrings, a gold bangle and watch.

Second Fall Look: Blazer, Cute Boho Top and Olive Pants

I love me a boho top! Here are a few related posts for you to enjoy. How to Style Boho Tops, A Leopard Denim Jacket with a Boho Top, Jean Jacket, Chinos, and a Fun Boho Top) I like them on their own, under a vest and under a blazer. In this look I took the same blazer, pants and sandals as in the first look, but instead added a small floral print boho or poet top under the jacket.

For accessories, I added a leopard belt (always a good idea, but especially in the fall), a pearl bracelet, a small pink beaded choker, and a tan doctor’s bag purse. Style Tip: I like wearing a belt over the boho top to control the volume. Also mixing the tan leather with the brown shoes works very well.

Now if you don’t care for the look of joggers feel free to substitute olive pants instead. And of course as it gets cooler, you can readily substitute booties for the block heeled sandals.

More Transitioning to Fall Tips:

When trying to transition your clothes from summer to fall here are a few ideas I try to employ:

  1. Consider adding black, brown or black and brown together accessories such as shoes, booties and/or purses.
  2. Add opaque tights under dresses and skirts.
  3. Add layers such as a light weight sweater with a jacket over it.
  4. Most any outfit will benefit from a jean jacket draped over your shoulders or worn over your top.
  5. Animal print EVERYTHING is very fall-like. Watch for a post showing you my ever-expanding assortment of this print.
  6. Add boots and a leather jacket.
  7. Throw on a long cardigan
  8. Add a turtleneck to most outfits.
  9. Consider a light weight poncho.
  10. My favorite: add a kimono or ruana over your top with jeans. Perfection!
