Are you struggling with the cooler mornings followed by ridiculously HOT afternoons of early fall?
Do you need some fall outfits for HOT weather?
Seeing a few orange-tinged leaves on my daily walks is so exciting. Have you seen any yet?
That means we are moments away from barn jackets, cashmere scarves, leather gloves, and so much more fall and winter goodies.
But what’s a girl supposed to wear NOW?
You know what I mean.
You want to dress like fall, but the weather didn’t get the memo.
At least on some days…
Let me help you out. I will show you five fun fall outfits for hot weather that will tide you over, and you will love to wear!
In this post...
Tips for Fall Outfits for Hot Weather:
The best solutions for this challenging transitional time involve wearing clothes that look like fall but feel like summer. By that, I mean dark floral fabrics, such as a blouse or a sundress, can read “fall” with the right accessories. Think heavier sandals, suede booties, and jean jackets.
Consider flowy linen pants in an earthy tan, brown, or black tone.
Olive, anything quickly feels like a fall choice. I love olive joggers, utility jackets, and dresses.
White jeans can look transitional by adding lightweight cashmere sweaters tied over a tee or when paired with a chambray shirt or a dark-print boho top.
Black shorts can work between summer and fall. Consider pairing them with light layers such as a leopard cardigan or a black vest.
Blue denim in a jean dress is always a good summer-to-fall hot weather choice, especially in a short-sleeved option.
Let’s get to the hot weather outfits!
Outfit #1 of the Fall Outfits for Hot Weather:
A Dark Print Sundress, a Jean Jacket, and a Hat

This first of the autumn outfits for hot weather is an easy one to reach for. It pairs an oh-so-comfy sleeveless sundress with a mid-wash jean jacket. Many of us wear maxi dresses in the summer, and the way to transition this type of dress is to add a jean jacket, some tan sandals (or booties), and a dark tan hat. This would be a perfect look for a wine tasting or an early fall party.

Complete this ensemble with “diamond”-stud earrings, fun (and inexpensive silver beaded bracelets), and a stainless steel watch.

Outfit #2 of the Fall Outfits for Hot Weather:
Olive Jogger, a Short-sleeve Striped Tee, a Jean Jacket, and Leopard Sneakers

I love this classic fall look! As I mentioned above, I love olive as a transitional color as we head into fall. I love THESE olive joggers because they are lightweight and, thus, suitable for the hot fall weather. I added a short-sleeved striped tee because the shorter sleeves are cooler than the long ones. This tee from Madewell is so sharp because it has a crisp stripe right at the neckline. Most stripe tees don’t have this extra detail. I’m glad it does, as it elevates the tee. In addition, this tee isn’t so long; thus, it isn’t too bulky to tuck into the tummy area.
Don’t you LOVE the leopard sneakers?! They are comfy, easy-to-slip-on, and perfect for the transition to fall. Remember, olive, denim, and leopard are all considered neutral colors, so wear them with almost anything and it will “work”!

Again, I am wearing the same jean jacket as the first look. This mid-wash jean jacket is so classic in its wash and slightly oversized style. It will easily allow me to layer a sweater or turtleneck under it this fall/winter. I am wearing a size medium.
Outfit #3 of the Fall Outfits for Hot Weather:
Dark Print Boho Top and White Jeans

White jeans are wearable in any season with the right accessories. A great way to transition your white jeans into fall involves pairing them with a dark print top. I love a boho top at this time of year, as it has a casually cool vibe. In addition, the open neckline is cooler than a more covered-up neckline, such as a sweater or button-up shirt.

For shoes, I love a block-heel tan sandal, a bootie, or a fun mule. All work perfectly, depending on the temperature. Again, I wore the light-weight layering silver bracelets (below) from the first outfit. They are so easy to reach as I head out the door.

Outfit #4 of the Fall Outfits for Hot Weather:
A Chambray Shirt, Black Linen Short, and a Fedora
| Shirt | Shorts | Sandals | Hat | Watch | Bracelets | Earrings |
This is the perfect look for grandma going for a bike ride or grandkid game! The hat and chambray shirt shield me from the sun and pair nicely with the black linen shorts. Shorts work in the hot fall weather if you add accessories like dark sandals, denim (in a shirt or jacket), and a fun hat!

If you prefer long pants and it’s hot outside, switch to these darling (and affordable) linen pants I have in black and tan.
Outfit #5 of the Fall Outfits for Hot Weather:
A Flowy Dress in a Fall Hue
| Dress | Necklace | Earrings | Bracelets | Sandals | Watch | Bangle |
This dress is such a winner as one of the fall outfits for hot weather! It’s lightweight, olive in color (so great for reading as”fall”) and it easily can be worn under a jean jacket!
Oh, and to seal the deal, it has pockets! Yay!

I added a classic gold necklace with a central pearl and a gold watch, bangle, and “diamond” earrings. I am wearing the same layering beaded bracelets but in gold. Doesn’t it all really accessorize the dress in a fun way that elevates the simple dress to a new level? (Here is a recent post on how to wear this fun dress in four fun ways.)

Outfits with a hat are just so cute. Hats really make a difference even though I seldom wear one. Good for you to be spunky. But I will haul out my denim jacket! Thanks for the ideas, Julie.
Yay, you Joanie! I love me a good Jean jacket! Hats are so fun! Especially in the fall!
