Do you ever have a day when you want to wear something loose, flowy, but still really cute? I created four fun olive green dress outfits to help us all out with this kind of day. Take a look and see if you agree with me.
Usually, I wouldn’t say I like these tiered dresses as I think they look too much like a shepherdess or something. I know they’re all the rage and most come with a really wide U-shaped neckline that I find very unflattering on my frame.
So imagine my surprise when I found this V-neck (ALWAYS my favorite as I think it flatters my middle-aged neck) tiered green dress. I decided to challenge myself to come up with four olive green dress outfits. Let’s get to the looks:
In this post...
Outfit #1 of the Olive Green Dress Outfits
How to Style Olive Dresses

In this determining how to style an olive dress, I decided to accessorize this pretty 100% viscose dress with some inexpensive, but rich-looking jewelry. I found this layered olive, brown, and gold beaded necklace on Amazon and it even has coordinating earrings!

Here’s a close-up of the necklace. It goes with so many looks. I wear it most frequently in the fall as it has all these fun shades in it.

The earrings are another terrific find. Four different pairs of very light-weight tan or ivory rattan earrings come in a set for under $11! I gave away several pairs to my friends as there were so many! I wore a gold watch and bracelet to keep the warm feeling going.

What Kind of Jackets Work with Olive?
Do you know a really cool thing about olive-colored pieces of clothing? They are so versatile and go with just about every color because olive is considered a neutral color. Yup, it’s true. Olive green is considered a basic color just like black, white, navy, denim, and cream. Who knew? So what kind of jacket works with this olive dress? I chose a really cute medium-wash denim and I loved it together with the dress!

The above brown cross-body bag is a favorite accessory of mine. It’s by Patricia Nash and it has neat braid trim on the flap as well as a sturdy buckle. I love how a cross-body bag really adds a bit of shape to the dress without being too confining. Wouldn’t this be a great look for a summer concert or festival?

What Color Shoes to Wear with an Olive Dress?

What color shoes work with an olive dress? Well as we’ve established above, olive green is a neutral color, so ANY color shoe can be worn with an olive dress. I chose tan sandals and honey-colored booties, but the dress would look DARLING with white sneakers (see below), or red ballet flats! The choices are truly endless! Another fun shoe to wear with an olive dress like this would be a madras espadrille! Let your imagination be your guide!

In this third of the olive dress outfits, I decided to pair a tan woven Panama hat with a similarly woven J McLaughlin tote. I kept the gold watch and bangle as well as the tan flat sandals from outfit #1.

The bag is so cute! It’s from last season so I will link something similar here, and here. I love the tortoiseshell handles as they’re so classic!

Olive Green Dress Combinations

As I mentioned above, the olive green dress combinations are endless because the dress is a solid olive green and because olive green is a neutral color. So for fun, in this fourth look, I popped on a pair of white platform sandals. Pro-tip: I think white sneakers and a casual dress are the perfect outfit for running errands and especially for shopping. This look is CLEARLY a “one and done” look! I put on the dress, and my shoes, grab my bag, and go! Then if I am lucky enough to score a “find” at one of my favorite retailers, all I have to do is slip off one piece to try it on! Yay, me!

The sneakers are so comfy for running around and I always wear Bombas socks under them as they’re so padded. And most importantly, I have really skinny feet, and these socks don’t fall down into my shoes! Don’t you just hate that! Bombas socks are a bit pricey, but they are so worth it! Don’t these shoes look cute as part of the olive green dress outfits?

Conclusion to the Four Fun Olive Green Dress Outfits:
What do you think of these four olive green dress outfits? Would you wear any of them? I really wasn’t a fan of these tiered dresses but this one with the v-neck and solid olive green color really caught my eye. Let me know your thoughts on this post below in the comments. Hi Dr Julie, 4 great outfits!
My favorite is #2, with denim jacket and brown cross-body. Those 2 items give the dress some structure and color contrast.
I agree Elianne! Thanks for commenting!
Everything looks so darn cute on you. On me, that dress would be a tent. Love the pearl necklace.
Thanks, Joanie! I love that necklace too! It was from Evereve, but is sold out!
