Are you planning a Spring trip to Palm Springs, California? Wondering what is the fashion vibe for Palm Springs clothes? It is an eclectic town that has a vintage vibe. As one travel blogger wrote, when you head into Palm Springs, it feels as though all the palm trees wave and welcome you upon arrival! This welcoming vintage vibe has a bit of retro in it as well. The outfit I am sharing is perfect for a sunny Palm Springs trip.

My Perfect Outfit for My Palm Springs Clothes
Outfit #1 of the Palm Springs Clothes
This outfit is one of the many matching sets (see more at the end of this post) being featured this spring. I was recently asked to be a model in the Palm Desert Talbots Early Spring Fashion Show. Have you ever been to a Talbots event? It was so much fun! I wore this cool look and felt the Palm Springs Clothes vibe. The
The outfit consists of wide-leg palazzo pants (of a very soft and flattering drapey fabric) paired with a coordinating knit short-sleeved sweater. When you wear the two pieces together like this, it looks like a jumpsuit. (But, it’s a bit more user-friendly when you need to use the ladies’ room.) For a third piece, we added a navy girlfriend cardigan. I needed a new navy cardigan and was so happy with the mid-weight of this one as well as the way it highlighted the navy background of this print.
What are Palazzo pants and how should they be styled?
According to Wikipedia, Palazzo pants are long unisex pants cut with a loose, extremely wide leg that flares out from the waist. Palazzo pants are popular as a summer season style, as they are loose and tend to be flattering in light, flowing fabrics that are breathable in hot weather.
Palazzo pants are a style that can be very flattering with a few caveats. As I am 5’4″, palazzo pants could make me look short. The way to avoid that is to wear palazzo pants that sit at my natural waist or higher as that makes my legs look longer.
Shorter women should wear darker patterns or prints in their palazzo or wide-legged trousers as these are more slimming to the eye. The concern is that the print or pattern should not overwhelm the person wearing it with too much volume.
Flowy fabrics are much more flattering than those where the fabric is clingy. Lastly, palazzo pants and wide-leg trousers look much better if they are full-length as opposed to cropped. Cropped wide-leg pants make you look shorter and are therefore less attractive.
Are the pants in this outfit “flattering”?
I believe these wide-leg pants in my Palm Springs clothes outfit are flattering. They’re flowy, full-length, in a subtle dark print and they sit at my natural waist. They’re also versatile as they can be worn in multiple ways as seen below. What do you think? Tell me below in the comments.
The pants are at my natural waist and are pull-on with a comfortable elastic waistband. The top is soft and not too clingy to wear. Both are Misses Size Small and run true to size. In this look, I accessorized with a gold necklace which gives the outfit some visual dimension.

Another option is this button-front shirt. The fabric is the same as the pants and it is a loose-fitting piece if you prefer that to the light-weight sweater I am wearing. Above you can see that the sleeve length is about three-quarters down my arm, which flatters most middle-age arms. I like how the staff at Talbots accessorized the top with a very pretty heavy gold pendant. I added gold hoops, a gold bangle, a gold watch, and nude sandals.

In this second look, I changed out the gold accessories for a silver bag, a silver watch, a silver bangle, and a pearl necklace. My earrings are diamond studs (similar, here).

I think this is a perfect look for going out to lunch with friends or out to a fun Palm Springs dinner.

In the third look above, I swapped out the print palazzo pants for a pair of cropped white jeans. My sandals are a pair of flat nude ones that serve to elongate my leg lines they blend into my skin color.

In the fourth and final look, I added the blue cardigan, and I changed the earrings to a very reasonably priced pair of rattan earrings. They coordinated nicely with my wicker bag from J McLaughlin (similar, here). I also switched back to the gold bangle and watch.
I hope you enjoyed reading about this wide-leg trouser and sweater matching set from Talbot’s. I also rounded up many of my favorite coordinating sets that are so popular this spring. Most of these were featured in the fashion show. See what you think. All the images are clickable.
