Classy Winter Brunch Outfit
Even in sunny California, it can be cool in the morning. When it’s cool, and I am heading out to brunch or lunch (two of my favorite pastimes!), I put together an easy winter outfit. I reach for my favorite pair of skinny white jeans and pair it with a chunky sweater. I like the skinny jeans with the boxy sweater because they provide balance. By combining the broader silhouette of the sweater with the narrow shape of the skinny jeans, I look more proportionate.

If I had instead worn a pair of baggy jeans or trousers, I would have looked shapeless and less pulled together. This earlier blog shows a few more chunky sweaters and how to wear them to flatter your body.

I rolled the cuff of my jeans to show a bit of ankle above the black suede booties. By wearing black on top and my feet, (called bookending), my white winter jean outfit looks more elevated. Click here to see a few more ways to wear white jeans in winter (here, and here),

A few more tips
I love the classic and crisp look of this easy winter outfit. If it’s cold where you live, just pop on a wool coat. Then at brunch, drape it over your shoulders as a third piece. A tan camel hair coat or a black wool coat would continue the neutral vibe of this outfit. Or you could jazz things up by adding a colored coat such as this one or this. All would work beautifully.
