This past Saturday my good friend Linda and I decided to go out for lunch and a matinee. We went to a newly opened restaurant named The French Rotisserie in Palm Desert. This is the second restaurant that these owners have opened in the past two years. The other is of the same name but is located a bit closer to my home in La Quinta. This is What to Wear to Lunch and the Movies.

What to Wear to Lunch and the Movies

The decor of the new spot is more sophisticated than at the La Quinta spot. It’s done in rich greys with full length drapes that help ameliorate the voices of the other diners. (I found the La Quinta restaurant to be a bit noisy.).

There are darling French posters and beautiful tiling especially by the bar area.

The food and service were excellent. We both ordered the Caesar salad with a Parmesan wafer which tasted great. Just the right portion for lunch. The rest of the menu had classic French fair. I’ve eaten their scallops and asparagus recently and found them to be delicious.

Because we were headed to the movies right after lunch I needed to dress warmly. I have found many of the theaters to be overly cool from their air conditioning so I wanted to be prepared. I wore a burgundy fringed poncho/wrap (old) over a black cotton turtleneck (by J. Mc Laughlin), and honey colored fake suede jeans from Ann Taylor (this season).

To add more visual interest I wrapped a soft very thin cashmere scarf on my neck that had all the colors of my outfit as well as a few pops of orange and green. I think that scarves do so much to tie an outfit together and to elevate a look. This scarf is old but scarves are accessories that truly stand the test of time. I have many scarves and I’ll show you in the next few days how I’m currently organizing them.

I love the three gold buttons on the cuff. I paired my usual gold mesh watch with a new Talbots gold bracelet. It’s a bangle but looks like a series of links. My friend Linda gave it to me for my birthday.

The movie we saw was Little Women based on the Louisa May Alcott’s book of the same title. It was WONDERFUL! Go see it! After the show I was waiting in line in the restroom when three little nine year old girls approached me. They asked me if I was in line. I replied affirmatively and asked them what movie has they seen. They said they has just seen the same show and loved it. I told them it reminded so much of the book that I had read at their age. They were so surprised that I had read the book, that I laughed and said that I had done so a hundred years ago!

So go see the movie, as it’s a lovely story of young women and their relationships. Go to the delicious French Rotisserie Restaurant in Palm Desert, California and wear cozy, but fashionable clothes to the movies. Such a fun day!!!

Thanks for reading What to Wear to Lunch and the Movies!
