When my friends from Chicago hear that I’m spending my winters in Palm Desert, California, they assume every day is sunny 😎and every night is warm. Well it’s true that most days are in fact sunny, but many evenings can be cool or downright cold 🥶.
How to Style a Vest in the Winter

Most of the restaurants have a great deal of outside seating (with heaters as needed) so it’s important to dress to be comfortable. The other night we met friends for dinner and I wore this cute look.

I started with a navy and black striped cotton turtleneck (old), with J.Jill dark washed denim leggings (this season), and black suede Aquatalia booties (oldies but goodies). For an outer layer I wore a grey fake fur vest that I’ve had for years.
I think vests are such a great layering piece. I have several fake fur vests as well as the ever popular puffer (down) ones. They’re easy to open up if you’re warm, and the pockets are a toasty spot for your hands if needed. I added a long silver feather necklace from Evereve (last year) and finally a black leather crossbody bag from Granada, Spain. I purchased the purse several years ago when my son, Jake was spending a semester abroad. Fun memory!

Are you fans of vests as a layer? I’m always glad to see them in my closet come fall. I like them as my outer layer here in California, but in Chicago I wear it indoors instead of a sweater. I hope you enjoyed this post on How to Style a Vest in the Winter.
